Fried Goat Cheese with Sweet Prune Sauce

Fried goat cheese and our sweet prune sauce are both very easy to make and won’t require you to spend too much time in the kitchen! They are one of those perfect food pairings that will also work great as an addition to a charcuterie board or a salad.

Ingredients

8oz plain goat cheese

2 small eggs

1/2 cup bread crumbs

Olive oil

1/2 cup / 100g prunes

3 tbsp red wine

1 cup heavy cream

Directions:

Slice the goat cheese log into 8 equally thick slices. Dip the goat cheese slices in the whipped egg and then the bread crumbs.

Place each round on a clean plate and refrigerate for at least an hour to ensure they stay together during the cooking process

Chop prunes and cover them with 3 tbsp of red wine. Let soak for 20 minutes.

Add soaked prunes and heavy cream into a small sauce pan. Bring to medium heat and let simmer until the sauce thickens. Stir occasionally.

Heat a cast iron skillet. Drizzle with olive oil, and when hot, place goat cheese rounds in the skillet. Cook for a couple of minutes, until bottoms are golden brown, and then flip to cook the other side.

Remove fried cheese to a clean plate or serving tray.

Remove prune sauce from heat, transfer into small sauce cups or stainless steel ramekins.

 Serve warm!
